Fathe Md. Ziaul Quium
Hello everyone! I am Fathe Md. Ziaul Quium. I did two courses with the
faculty. In my first semester I did BUS101 and in my last semester I did MGT314.
I got A in both of the courses. I am going to give you some tips to survive in
the mgt314 course. Beginning of the course it may seem that it is totally
impossible to get an A in this course. But if you follow only five steps you can
easily get a good grade in this course.
1. Attendance- The Crucial Part
It is one of the most crucial parts of this course. If you attend all the
class, you will able to get 3% bonus. It will also help you to prepare for your
exam because most of the problems will be solved in the class.
2. Individual Online Assessment (IOA) - The Focal Point
You have to read the book to do well in the IOA which will help you in the
exam. You will get 90% MCQ and T/F from the IOA. IOA will be a big contributor
in your grade. So do not forget to go through IOA before the exam otherwise you
will have to suffer in the exam hall.
3. MID-1 & Other Exams- The Motivating Factor
Every midterm exam is important in this course but mid-1 can play an enormous
role to motivate a student. Mid-1 is actually the easiest exam in this course.
If you study hard for this exam, you can easily get 100% marks which will
motivate you to do better in the next part of the course
4. Sample question- The Guideline
Before preparing for the exam, you should have a better understanding about
the question paper. For this course you will get the best opportunity to know
the question pattern. You can get the question paper of previous semester in the
website. To get an A, you MUST go through these question papers.
5. Bonuses- The Trump Card
This is the trump card of this course. Sir will give you a lot of chance to
achieve this bonus. Try to grab it.
Other then this five points you will also have to take care of the group
project and group assignment. For this you have to create a good understanding
between your group mates otherwise you will have to suffer a lot in this course.
Always try to keep in touch with the faculty. During this course some problems
may arise, you can get the solution in the Facebook page of this course.
I would like very much to help you studying for the course and feel free to

Md Tahmidul Huq
Getting an A or A- in the course MGT 314 (Production Management) is not so
tough, according to my opinion you can consider the following techniques
applying which I achieved A in this crucial course.
Studying Pattern
In every examination (Mid Term 1 & 2 & Final) four to five chapters will be
in syllabus. Hence you will have to study regularly to keep pace with the class,
you really should not put forth your lessons to study in the 12th hour. In every
week you can spend three to four hours to study the topics. You don’t need to
memorize anything, rather you need to get the concept from the textbook and
practice the mathematical problems.
Exam Preparation
The two that play vital role in exam preparation are: IOA (Individual Online
Assignments) and Cheat Sheet. Apart from developing concepts through reading the
book/slides and attending class lectures, you need to study the IOAs for
True/False and MCQ section. Almost 95% MCQ and True False come straightforward
from the IOAs, for the rest 5% you can expect some twists! In the Cheat Sheet
you can note down all the formula needed to solve the mathematical problems, the
figures/diagrams, points that seem important to you.
Assignment Preparation
In preparing the group assignment you need to have clear idea what has been
asked in the assignment guideline. Cover all the topics demanded in the outline
& also follow the appropriate assignment format. For the IOAs you need to have
clear concept on the chapter topics and the mathematical problems. I want to add
that the mathematical problems that appear in the IOAs also come in theory
section of the exams.
Term Project Preparation
Like the group assignment you need to have clear concept about the term
project to cut smart figures in Term Paper. Be an expert in using Microsoft
Visio Software. Visit sir’s office even if you have the slightest confusion. In
presentation be detail oriented but not by elongating it unnecessarily. Include
all the relevant graphs, figures and facts. Also be cautious about time, since
you will get exactly fifteen minutes to present your term paper. You as a group
can consider rehearsing once or twice before the final presentation.
The Mantras of Staying Focused
To me staying focused with the lessons is easy, in fact I like to see it that
way. Prepare weekly schedule and be determined to stick with you prepared
schedule. Try to form a study group. If you are a music lover like me, you can
listen good music while practicing the mathematical problems. To enliven your
heart and soul watch some good movies, only if you are with schedule. We will
know we are obliged to perform a bunch of tasks in just 24 hours, what matters
most how you prioritize your tasks and what plan do you have to accomplish them!

Ankita Barua Chowdhury
Hello there! If you spared some time out of your busy schedule to read my
paragraph, I, Ankita Barua Chowdhury, cannot thank you enough. When I first took
the course, I had heard all dreadful things about the course being very critical
and how hard it is to ensure a good grade in it. Honestly, in the first few
classes I was clueless about the lectures. So if you are facing trouble in the
first few classes, don’t lose hope. Here are a few tips and tricks that I
followed that might come to use-
- Don’t miss any classes! Even if you do, make sure you have valid reason
and submit application for it. - Join the Facebook group and keep a check at the updates regularly.
- Try to participate in class, especially when a question pops up in your
head regarding the topic. Sir gives enough chances to ask questions and if
your question is logical, you might end up with bonus points like me. - Concentrate on the topics covered in class, especially the math.
- If possible study in groups before exams, it helps a lot with confusions
and makes you remember better. - Put extra emphasis on charts and diagrams, I always noted them down in
my cheat sheets. - Make your cheat sheets while studying, it helped me remember the topics
very well and where I’ve written it down. - Study well for the IOAs and revise them before exams, they carry a lot
of marks. - Go through the guidelines of term projects and group assignments and if
you have confusions, ask Sir or his TA, they are very helpful. We showed sir
our progress of work before the submission dates to guide us and show our
errors, and he helped us to get on track. - Sir gives a lot of chances to earn bonus points, grab them!
- Check the midterm papers and see where your faults are, make sure you
don’t repeat them next time. - The course is very well structured with clear guidelines, so make sure
you follow them. You get almost all your queries cleared from the website
itself.
What I learned from this course is that it’s not only hard work that makes
you succeed, you also need to have a clear idea of what you are doing. And as
they say, if plan A doesn’t work, there are 25 more alphabets to try on!
All the very best, may the odds be in your favor …
Kifayet Amina Ahmad
I will begin by saying that you need to be prepared to put in a lot of hard work for this course. After every chapter, sir posts an open book IOA and if you give them diligently, you will be half prepared for your mid term or final exams. Before sitting for your exam, review the IOAs’ because they will help you in the MCQ sections. For the broad/short questions, maintain a cheat sheet. I needed a few hours to prepare the cheat sheet because I would try to include a lot of things from the book and it really helped me during my exams.
The examination syllabus is usually four or five chapters so the amount of literature to cover is huge. If you really want to do well, then don’t study at the last minute, try studying at least a few days before the exams. Try studying a chapter or two everyday and keep time to revise. Even though you will have a cheat sheet, it won’t have everything you need for broad/short questions. Our Mgt314 exams had mathematics included so you have to practice the sums in the book and examples. If there is any mathematics portion in the book and if sir taught it in class, make sure you study it thoroughly because sir will probably give it in exams.
The project for this course is very challenging so in order to do well in it, start at least one month before the deadline. For our project, we needed to talk to lots of people and gather a lot of information so it really took time to compile the work. Alhamdulillah, since we tried to finish our project a few days before deadline, we had more time to correct and revise.
Don’t miss the classes, since sir is very strict about attendance. If you miss a class by any chance, then go to sir and request his permission to join another section. That way, you will not miss attendance. He also allows lots of chances for bonus marks so it really helps to perform in class for bonus.
Dipanyta Datta
Hi! People!! I am Dipanyta Datta. I have a favorite quote; that is “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” ? Mahatma Gandhi. I really believe this line. There is no value of studying if you don’t learn this by heart. While I was doing my MGT314 course I felt it more. MGT314 is a very important course for BBA students as it describes operation management. You are going to need this knowledge till the end of your professional life. MGT314 was little critical as it involves some statistical and mathematical terms but attending classes crumbled it into a easy one. Here are my suggestions to survive this easily-
- For STUDY MATERIAL you MUST have to go through the assigned book. Slides can help you to follow the topics discussed in the class but for better knowledge you must read books. Learn all the diagrams, equations and their use, as they are important for exams. DO NOT leave studies for the night before the exam. If you do so unless you have super power, you are going to fail. Some slides are marked as EXAM, read them more properly.
- IOA is very important for this course. Sir gives most MCQ from IOAs. Before attending IOAs you MUST read the chapter from the book, not the slides. This is going to help you later too.
- In my semester we had been assigned one group assignment and term project. Sir will provide outlines for both group assignments and term project. Follow that strictly. You have to use some software. Sir is really helpful to teach you the use of that software. You must have proper knowledge on what you are doing and related information on term project. Group co-ordination is also important. Sir values individual efforts too.
- I have told about some of exam preparations. One thing is MUST in the hall- CHEAT SHEET. Make sure you are taking one A4 size paper’s one side as a cheat sheet. Try to write down all mathematical equations. Use fonts as small as possible. Write down some theory if you find them tough or have a chance to forget. Generally sir does conceptual questions. Go through all IOAs and math that are mentioned in the slides.
- Sir gives a lot of opportunity to earn bonus. GRAB IT. Attend all the classes. Do participate in class. About class attitude don’t be too informal. Be yourself. Sir gives examples. Try to note it down as you may get question in the exam or IOAs. Check website for all types of notice and directions related to course.
That was all about my part. Wish you a great semester!!!
